A Day in the Life of a NICU Mom

>7am wake up and pump
Try to go back to sleep
>10am wake up, pump and head up to the NICU for Cares.
*Cares consist of:
*Changing diaper
*Measure Bug's belly to be sure he digested everything completely
*Taking temperature
*Start Bug's feeding (30ml in a slow pump)
Take care of Little Bug and lay him skin to skin on my chest until 1pm
>1pm pump, cares, and leave NICU. Eat lunch, and one of the following: catch up on sleep, return phone calls, buy groceries, craft, visit with family, blog, ect.
>4pm pump and the usual cares plus weighing and bathing Little Bug, this takes around an hour. Afterwards make and eat dinner.
>7pm pump, cares, and skin to skin until...
>10pm pump and cares again, then to bed.

Cares continue every three hours through the night, but the hospital is closed after 10 so the nurses do the cares instead.

Pumping is going well, I am producing more then Bug can eat so the freezer is filling up quick. Little Bug has had a few tummyaches so we have omitted the added fortifier for a little while and will be trying a different fortifier tomorrow.

Every care time we work on the pacifier to get him ready for bottle and breastfeeding in the next couple weeks. His suck is strong and very enthusiastic! His eyes get bigger each day and he has started tracking (I think).

Mom Marble is back from Costa Rica and has been a big help with me, my emotions, and becoming a new mom. I have millions of questions and she has been awesome at helping me put them into words. Her and my little sister are coming to visit this week and I'm excited for some girl-time-distraction!

Last week my sister in law, Aimee threw me a fabulous baby shower in Logan, with a lemon drop theme, very appropriate for my lemon themed nursery! It was so nice to socialize and catch up with family. I'm excited for my friends baby shower this Thursday! (thanks in advance, Mandy!)
The nursery has been coming together quite quickly, actually. It should be finished before Bug comes home.

Speaking of coming home, we have been told by the nurses and doctors to expect Little Bug to be released by his original due date (august 10th), and anything sooner is a bonus. One nurse told us they START sending babies home at 36 weeks. Bug was born at 30 weeks and is now 32 1/2 weeks.
